My experience with A Plus Advancement for Educators has been fantastic! I have learned how to better serve, support, teach and understand how ELL students feel in class. Also, for me to have a mindset of "others oriented" as opposed to task oriented. The class was self paced, which was great, but it was also easy to navigate. What a great experience for me and for my professional growth in the area of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Thank you!

I have now taken several classes from A+ Advancement for Educators, and I highly recommend them for teachers who want to add some tools to their toolkit while also advancing on the pay scale. Online classes are often laborious and outdated and expensive; however, the instructors here have crafted budget-friendly classes that are relevant to classrooms today.

No joke: best professional development I've had either in-person or virtually. I went in just wanting to get it done, but they have so many thought-provoking lessons that I found myself slowing down and really trying to learn from the whole process. You won't find better PD out there, so just jump in: you won't regret it!

The courses gave me great ideas that I could use immediately in my classroom. The workload was reasonable and I enjoyed the projects.

A plus is a solid A+ in my grade book. I was able to access the material in a meaningful fashion and apply it to my classroom.

When I consider what Horizontal Advancement classes to take, I do want efficiency... I don't like jumping through hoops. So I was very pleased with APAFE. You can quickly get to the salient details of the class and interact with them in a way that informs and improves instruction.

I never felt like I was wasting time or simply paying for credit. Instead, I felt like I was having a genuine learning experience.

I completed A+ Advancements's "Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching" Course the first week of summer vacation and feel inspired to return in the fall with my engaging lessons, unit, and current research in supporting ELLs, Cultural diversity and identity in the classroom. The currulum's depth in research, diversity of material throughout the syllabus, and real world application to my own classroom made it not only enjoyable but authentically instructional. Thank you for this great opportunity to focus deeply and be far more informed about how to create more engaging, vulnerable, inclusive, rigorous, asset based, and meaningful lessons.

Unpacking implicit bias sparked this similar reaction of surprise and unease within myself, am I doing enough? Could I be doing more to support ALL my students? Have I treated students unfairly? Have I been tired or moved too quickly to decide if students were behaving badly or rudely based on their race, their behavior, lack of eye contact, or whatever cultural lens that I was chosen for that moment in time? More questions are percolating to the surface than anything right now. I want to be sure to take more of the IAT tests and see if I, too, can unlearn some of my unconscious patternings. For example, I’ve recently read the Implicit Bias Tests: Why Every Teacher Should Take A Few, by Meghan Mathis, We Are Teachers and found that the more we work with IAT tests the more we repattern our brains’ elasticity and unlearn the unconscious bias we learned along our lifetime, the better we can educate all students.

Thank you for bringing this important foundation of research and information together to become more aware educators imparting more flexible mindsets to support our future leaders in the world through our behaviors and our lessons.

These have by far been the best classes I have ever taken-- I actually get to create assignments that do not take long to make, but that I can use! I feel inspired again to use different tools in my classroom-- podcasts, Canva, screencasting, to name a few. I have taken all of the classes, and I am looking forward to more! It is clear that the creators have knowledge of the classroom and what is beneficial for students today. I could not recommend these classes more!!!!!
